I'm always the last to schedule the carpets at our house because there is so much to pick up. Kids toys, rugs and runners, plants, shoes, trash cans, etc. Move what furniture you can from the carpet to your hard surfaces such as the kitchen and bathroom. Once everything is picked up, you want to go though and vacuum each room as best you can. Don't rush the vacuuming because this is what is removing the lose dirt before the carpet get cleaned. The more loose dirt you removed the better the carpets get cleaned. The other important reason to move everything before we show up is so we can get right to work.
